Okay, for the time being, I'm reviving this blog again. I have been through it in the last 24 hours. Long story short, I'm locked out of my vivaldi blog account. So I'm back to using blogger until I can get back in, when customer service contacts me back.
So. I ended up distro jumping from linux mint, to try out ubuntu LTS. All was going great, and I was happily using it. I also got into my mind to change my phone over to linux as well. The awesome video below shows you step by step how to change your pixel phone to linux. Amazing video as it had a tech dummy like me, successfully install it.
The thing was, I didn't back up my proton authenticator app. So when I installed the OS, it of course scrubbed the info on my phone. Didn't think much of it. Ooooh...little did I know what was to befall me.
So I had some sort of update to ubuntu that is on my computer, and I must have either set up the OS wrong (very possibly as a cord kicked out of the computer due to pet-gremlins running around me) or the above operation of installing linux on my phone gave me the confidence I had no business having, thinking I was this hacker of the world, and I went in and deleted some stuff when it installed. I maybe got rid of something I shouldn't have, because when it rebooted, it couldn't find some sort of disk in my computer, and wouldn't go past the boot up.
So after much frustration, I said fuck it, and reinstalled mint on the computer. Guess what this dummy did? Again loose everything on the computer installing the new/old linux OS.
I thought, not a big deal, I still had everything backed up on an external hard drive.
So I went to bed feeling satified with what I did.
Well...
I woke up, and started went to log into Vivaldi to do the blog, and had to log in again because of the re-install of Mint. It then asked me for my code from my authenticator app. I thought fine, I reinstalled the app on the phone. Vivaldi was not on the app. None of my things needing passkeys saved and could be brought over even with my proton log in. Also the recovery code that I saved to a text file got lost because I couldn't get back into ubuntu, of course.
I then tried so many times to get back into my blog, that I believe I'm not locked out! So sad because I was really enjoying the blog there. So I'm now waiting to see if I can get back in, while waiting on a contact back from customer service.
So until then I'm just going to be back here. The blog must continue on! Thankfully it's only been a couple of days so I didn't loose much, like if I lost everything here! So the daily writing will continue on here for now. Or maybe just stick with this. Google has so much of my sweet data over the years that they would never want to stop suckling at the teet of my sweet data milk pouch. So that both good and bad, I guess.
So let this be a cautionary tale to you good folks out there, who are probably smarter than me: BACK UP EVERYTHING!!!!
