The Listening Centre: In The World Of Faith Fear - Tribal Cabaret

Good morning, so yesterday I got a chance to listen to the previous Listening Centre pick, being The Art Of Solving Problems. For me, it had to be the song by a group called The Beans called Getting On The No. 9. It just had that vibrant youthful energy, and kind of made me nostalgic about when I was young just getting together with friends and taking the bus or subway downtown after school to hang out, or go to an all ages punk show. The song is still stuck in my head. Great compilation, though I found many of the bands featured had that Elvis Costello and The Attractions vibe.

Anyway the next one I've been wanting to check out was In The World Of Faith Fear which I assume is some sort of goth rock collection from 1985 from Italy. Also looks like it was accompanied by a zine at the time.

Happy Listening!

    Salut.

Listening to In The World of Faith Fear. In fact, i noticed i already had it in my collection, probably because of the Nostalgie de la Boue blog. I think you might find things of interest in it. It's very much in the same vein of the kind of musical offerings we discussed previously (well, the banner image is a Coil pic, that's a pretty big giveaway, i'd say). https://nostalgie-de-la-boue.blogspot.com/

Anyway, about the compilation, i do think it was the first time i listened to it. To me, the standout track would be La Somme, by Des Traces. As you said, it's in the style of this old goth rock, still displaying a very noticable punk/industrial/noise/DIY ethos, but, in this case, with added inspiration from the RIO/Zeuhl scene of french and belgian "noisy" progressive music. Bands like Univers Zéro, Art Zoyd, Présent, Weidorje... It also kind of reminded me of "La Muse Vénale", another 1985 compilation of goth/post-punk/coldwave from my hometown of Marseille. Good stuff, too.

Anyway, thanks again for all the art and see you soon. Have a great day, Nadette.
