Coffee Chat: Dosbox and word processors

 Good morning everyone,

I have found out how to use Dosbox which is some sort of emulator to run old programs on, and downloaded a couple of art and animation things, like this one I downloaded called Cartoons

Basically, I almost ran over a bucket that blew out from somebody's yard with my bike. The Bucket Lord is a long story and couldn't explain it if I tried. xD

So I also downloaded a couple of word processors. One cool one I found was called NewsMaster where you could make something look like a newspaper in all that pixely old computer glorious aesthetic, but I need to figure out how to make it work. When I do, it would be fun to make a zine using it.
However, I found something called Volkswriter. So I just kind of mindlessly free wrote something off the top of my head.

I don't know what it is, but I've been writing some great stuff with it. Sadly, I can only screenshot it off the emulator to post it, like I had to record my screen to get the animation above off it. But, the little extra work around to it is worth it.

I find there's something to using either old technology, or programs made for kids that, yes they have limitations, but I find they make me more creative to work with what I have.

Two visual poems made with Kidpix

So instead of typewritten freewriting pieces, I may do one in my volkswriter this evening.

Happy creating out there, and challenge yourself with some limited programs or supplies.
You would think it would limit you, but you may find it's the opposite. I kind of prefer it as some art programs can be so intimidating to a novice like me, that it can be overwhelming at times.

UPDATE: Oh, I press FN on my keyboard to get to use f keys in dosbox. Yay reddit! :D
